Samuel received a request for help that one local School was in desperate need of School Supplies for 50 children.
With an amazing donation from Sewing for Charity Australia plus the local community which he was able to help the Welfare Officer and the children in need.
Samuel was very fortunate to be nominated by the Logan City Council to represent the Community and was selected as a Queen's Baton Bearer for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This was a huge honour for Samuel. He passed on the Baton to celebrity singer song writer Dami Im.
Samuel was very thankful for this opportunity and for the amazing support from family, friends and the community who watched and supported him in very special moment.
Samuel held a very special Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea Fundraiser in honor of his beloved Grandfather. In the beautiful surroundings of Daisy Hill Forest, Samuel had supportive family and friends baking and people donating for this very important Charity. The Community came together being serenaded by the very talented Justin Geange and his beautiful daughter Tegan. The tea cups were filled and served morning tea by waiters the Hon Minister Mick de Brenni, Danny Stock and Mark Glancy. Samuel took photos and thanked our guests who attended, supported and enjoyed the morning. Lots of smiles were shared and most importantly every cup of tea we had we were raising money to support further treatment, research and support for those suffering from Cancer. Almost $600 was raised for this very special cause.
Samuel wanted to help the Homeless, he put a call out saying it is winter and it is cold and there are people living on the streets with no warm clothes, food and blankets. In Qld 49 people out of every 10,000 are homeless. Last year Samuel helped a wonderful charity called the Fishers of Men. They provide a Christian Community based street van in Logan, meals, blankets, furniture for those exiting the crisis cycle and a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program for people in need. In one word they are amazing! With the support, kindness and donations last year the community helped him supply over 70 homeless packs, food and clothing and this year with amazing hand knitted blankets, scarfs, beanies, cash for food donations, mens clothes and much more. These donations were given directly to the Homeless. The Homeless were also fed a warm meal, dessert, warm drinks plus given clothes, blankets and all the donations while sitting around heaters listening to the amazing messages from the Fishers of Men that have transformed lives and helped so many.
An amazing achievement - thank you to the community for over 20,000 School Supplies for 10 local Schools in Logan.
When hearing that some of our Local Schools will have over 50 children to give School Supplies too on their first day this amount was so overwhelming. It will help the Teachers, the Pastors, Families but most of all the children will have their very own supplies to learn. A sense of belonging! It was a lot of work and special thanks to Pastor Charles, Qld SU, Calvary Christian College, Hon Minister Mick de Brenni, Hon Cameron Dick, Sewing for Charity Australia, Motorama Holden, Logan City Council, RACQ, Woolworths Cornubia, Woolworths Loganholme, Daisy Hill Newsagent, IGA Daisy Hill, Maynard Accounting, Ruby Blue Creative, Daniel Stock, Zoe Luck, KGR Properties, Capture Headshots, Coles Loganholme our Children Helpers & Community.
Samuel was honoured with the Local Legends Award by the Hon Jim Chalmers. He shared this special award with other amazing Volunteers in our Community.
The Local Legends Awards acknowledge and celebrates those people who enhance quality of life by dedicating their skills, enthusiasm and energy in a diverse range of causes says Federal MP Jim Chalmers.
It was also an honour for Samuel to be asked to do a Speech with the MP about Volunteering in our Community.
Samuel wants to help more children in need for School Supplies. He came up with the Kids4Kids School Supply Drive. He called it Kids4Kids as he wanted to encourage other Children to help each other. A group of children painted the donation boxes which were Election Boxes. He has 10 Schools that he will be helping and many of the helpers including Local Ministers, Businesses and Shopping Centres, Children helpers, Pastors, Chaplains and the local Community. Samuel will be collecting over the School Holidays.
Samuel did his very own 15 days of kindness, each day was a kindness act, he emptied his piggy bank and bought a food voucher for a family in need, he visited the Elderly in a Nursing Home organising a concert and handing out cookies and gifts plus doing many other kindness acts.
